WHO I AM

Hoy el escrito no es mío, es de mi hermana Júlia pero la verdad es que me ha dejado impresionada. Merece ser publicado:

Who I am is maybe the most difficult question to answer in everyone’s life. I guess that I am the persons I have met during my whole life. Most of them have influenced me so much that have helped me to construct my identity.
First of all, I am my family. I am my mum’s daughter because she gave birth to me and since then she has been my role model. We share our taste in music (mostly because I like the singers she used to listen when I was little: Serrat, Edith Piaff, Ella Fitzerald...) and our taste in cinema, thanks to her I love the black and white cinema and specially Katherine Hepburn’s comedies as much as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musicals. People say that I look like her physically but that my personality is more similar to my father’s. Because of that, I am my dad’s daughter; he gave me his sensibility, his capacity of worrying about everything and his passion for gastronomy. I am the medium of three sisters. I am Lara’s little sister because I’ve always followed her steps in life, and I am Paula’s big sister because she tries to imitate me as much as I do or I used to do with Lara. I am also my grandma Amparo’s beautiful girl, because she used to watch me as if I was perfect and taught me how to behave with people, how to be patient and friendly, and how to love your family above all things. I am also my Grandpa Joan’s favorite granddaughter because I like sports as much as he does, and because I have exactly the same stupid sense of humor as him. I am my grandma Motserrat’s patient granddaughter, and I am also the one who inherited her big nose. And finally I am my nany’s Ana protégée because she raised me and she taught me how to be a good person.
Secondly I am my friends; my friends from Llagostera (the little village where I was born), my friends from Girona (where I studied), my friends from Barcelona and my friends from all over the world (that I met while studying in Sweden). I am Julia Nogué’s first friend in Kindergarden, and I have learnt from her how to keep a good friendship no matter what. I am Cristina’s friend from the school, to whom I have learnt how to continue living your life after an important lost. I am Sergi’s friend from the first years of high school from whom I have learnt to be who you are, and not what the others want you to be. And I am also my friend’s of the “Butlletí” (a magazine where I work) and l’Esplai (a youth centre where I’m volunteering) from whom I have learnt how to be passionate about your village. I am also Valen’s friend from the last years of high school from whom I’ve learnt how to be the loveliest person in the world.
I am also my friend’s from the university provincial friend, from them I’ve learnt: how to move to a big city, the power of joking thanks to Laia, the art of gossiping and dancing thanks to Alba and María, the most incredible information about the world thanks to Arnau and the greatness of philosophizing about everything thanks to Berta.
Last but not least, I am my friends from the Erasmus' cook, because they enjoyed my chicken with beer every time we met. From them I have learnt many things related to culture and language, but also related to life. I am Laurence's French student, cause she was the first one to teach me how to sing "La vie en Rose" knowing that it was one of my favorite songs in the world, I am Capucine's "stupida" because she enjoyed and hated at the same time my stupid jokes, I am Lucie's "loca" because we shared our passion for parties, and I am Aimée's "Spanish schedule" because she had to adapt her early Dutch meals to my late Spanish ones.

I hope this is helpful to understand who I am, just one person, but I am composed by all the persons in my life.
